Road Trip – Day 31 (April 15)

An early morning was in order for me. Again I got up before dawn to take photos of the bay. It certainly is the best time of the day for some photos. This one was taken a few minutes after sunrise. I actually had got into the car to go back to the caravan park when I saw this view of the bay. So a quick U turn and I managed to capture sunrise at Tumby Bay.

We all travelled about 30kms inland to the Koppi Museum. This was the place for a settlement in the early days but little remains except for this museum. However iron ore has been discovered in this area and it looks like that the Koppi Museum will be relocated to somewhere else. It is expected that iron ore mining will commence sometime in 2014. It will be a pity for this wonderful museum as the hills surrounding it lend to the atmosphere of the museum.

Our host at the museum was one of the best and gave us so much information and good customer service that we all came away feeling this was one of the best museums we had ever seen. So many collections from the early days including the biggest barb wire collection in Australia.

So many photo opportunities were here and about 150 photos later we went back to the park.

This is Carol in the small school house that was relocated at the Koppio Museum after it closed in 1977. Remember putting your hand up and saying “Please Miss, Please Miss”? there were tractors for kids to play on in the yard and of course our “kids” had to check them out.
