Road Trip – Day 45 (April 29th)

A beautiful morning and we were up and away early. we had another 140kms before we reached the Yulara resort. Uluru (Ayers Rock) is a further 25 kms from Yulara. We had lunch and decided to have a look at the national park which Uluru stands in  and checked out the Cultural Central. No photos were allowed here. we took some photos of the great rock but nothing compares with the fiery red you get at sunset.

The National Park, Kata Tjuta National Park is on the world Heritage List. The rock, Uluru is something all Australians should see at least once in their lifetimes. It dominates the landscape and has a certain “presence”. It is HUGE. Like an iceberg, what you see is only one third of the rock. Two thirds of the rock are under the ground. . Only one photo tonight. Tomorrow we get up at 5.30 am to go see the rock at sunrise. Another ling day.

Uluru at sunset about 10 minutes before the sun slipped below the horizon.
