A big drive of 136 kms from Blackall to Isisford. We travelled along a secondary road which was not in the best repair. We are well and truly in the outback these days. We saw lots of kangaroos and emus and I saw my first Bush turkey. He was huge like a large Christmas turkey, alongside the road.
There were a lot of dead animals on the road which provided a feast for the local hawks, eagles and other birds. Just as we were coming into Isisford we saw 2 Brolgas by the road. They are such beautiful elegant birds.
We drove through Isisford to the Oma Waterhole, which was 11 kms on a gravel road out of town. This is another bush camp and we have to be self sufficient There were crowds of caravans and campers there and it took a while for us to find a suitable spot for the 3 caravans to camp.
Fishing rods and nets came out as we are on the banks of the Barcoo River again. So far we have caught one undersized fish. Tomorrow may be a better day for fishing.
We are staying here for another night and then travelling into Longreach for 4 or 5 days. I must admit I am looking forward to power and washing machines. Another 2 blood noses while travelling today means I have clothes that must be washed. No photos today as downloading the photos flattens my laptop battery. I can only charge up the battery if we have the generator on.
