Are you superstitious? Does the thought of 'Friday the 13th' make you nervous?
When I woke on Friday 13th I would have said no. I went to work OK, I drove 70 kms to the city for a business meeting OK, then on the way home I took this photo while waiting at the lights. I remember to pick up the grandson. I remember to go grocery shopping and almost remember everything - still all is OK.
Then it happened--------- We are going to have Beef Satay on steamed rice for dinner. So far, so good. Black Friday struck as I entered the speciality asian food mart and there is an empty spot where my regular supply of satay paste lives. The owner of the shop happily suggests a different type/brand of satay sauce. Hmmmmmmmm.
Safely at home, I put the rice in the microwave container, set the microwave oven for 22 minutes and pick up the sauce jar to read the instructions. The meat is happily stir frying waiting for the sauce to be added.
I smell something but dont see smoke.
I go to the bedroom to get my glasses so I can read those minute instructions that are so small they were never meant to be read. I come back and check the meat - it has burnt!!!. Black Friday has struck again. I pick out the burnt pieces of meat and notice a toxic smell now. There is smoke coming out of the microwave so I open the door to check.
Black Friday has struck for the third time. There is a black molten mass smelling like an environmental disaster. I had forgotton to add the water.
I give up - we have McDonalds for dinner - I throw the microwave oven in the bin-and go to bed before Black Friday strikes again.

Gee, your Black Friday seems like my every day cooking!
Oh my!!! Dinner ruining can indeed ruin a whole day! I hate it when I do it!
But at least you didn't forget to pick the kids up Joan. So maybe just a very Dark Brown Friday.
