A chance of pace today - a friend was asking about places to see in Paris as I had been there in April 2010. We initially were having 6 days there but the Icelandic volcano caused us to have 2 weeks in Paris. As we had so much time we visited the Pere-Lachaise Cenetry, known for its famous graves. This is a worthwhile place to visit if you are visiting Paris
We tried to find a number of the famous from the map supplied but only managed to find Chopin's grave, pictured above.
There were some very old graves and some new ones. By now I had lost my good camera and was using a point & shoot one and I was frustrated when taking photos. Photo Hint: When travelling take a point&shoot as an emergency camera. You just dont know what might happen. As it is, there is a taxi driver in Paris that has a free Canon DSLR camera and a very expensive lens.
Père Lachaise is one of the most famous cemeteries in the world. It is reputed to be the world's most-visited cemetery, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to the graves of those who have enhanced French life over the past 200 years. It is also the site of three World War I memorials. Today there are over 300,000 bodies buried there.
