Road Trip – Day 4

Well it rained and rained and rained last night – nonstop for about 15 hours. Our caravan leaked and the sound of dripping water in a water lulled us to sleep. We were lucky the leak was not over our beds, but Kurgan, our dog was less fortunate. He was not impressed when we moved his bed.

This photo shows what we woke up to. I took this through an open window while in the car.20120319web

At 8.30am we were driving around in this rain looking for the caravan man, Todd, who was recommended to us. Yes, he said, he can fix it for us if we bring the caravan in to him at 2pm. …………………You know what this means – yes, pack up the caravan and put it onto the car and tow.

After this I was jumping up and down for a cappuccino coffee from this cute little caravan that we saw on the foreshore. They are only there Thursday to Monday. Back to common Nescafe tomorrow. This photo of the caravan isn’t the best as I was getting wet while trying to take it.

We left the caravan at the Caravan Repair shop and took the Great Ocean Road Drive, a circuit of about 40 kms, much of it along the coast.

I have had to up the ISO on the camera and there was dark cloud cover but more of those fabulous white beaches. Below is Twilight Beach which won the award “Best Beach 2009”.

We also tried to track down a retractable lead for Kurgan – unsuccessful. Phoned a friend in Mandurah who will buy one for us and bring it with her when we meet up on Thursday.

We also decided to buy a small radio so we can listen for weather alerts, road closures etc. This was more difficult than I thought. the first store told us they don’t sell radio’s with AM capability, only FM. Our national broadcaster, the ABC only broadcasts on AM and is the radio station to listen for weather alerts etc. Finally found a store that sold old fashioned radios with AM and FM and nothing else. No Ipod, Ipad docking facilities, alarm clocks etc.

Still getting some showers but so far no more leaks. Kurgan can sleep peacefully tonight.
