Road Trip – Day 24 (April 8)

For a day that started out with nothing to do ended up with us seeing quite a bit.

This morning was Easter Sunday and the Easter Bunny paid Lance a visit to give him what he wished for, an 18 year old blonde virgin. she even went with Lance to the Happy Hour today. Looks like Kurgan & I have just moved a notch down in Lance’s priority list.

Well OK, she was young looking, had blue hair and could swim like a fish.

Its amazing how much time you can waste just sitting around and talking and having morning tea during this time. Much interest was being focused on Alan’s water pressure in his caravan. (Ken’s TV Antenna was finally laid to rest a day or so ago). Interest in this had been going on for a few days and finally reached a peak today. The men were gathered around Alan’s caravan while the women looked on and discussed more important things. I turned around to have a look and “accidently” zoomed in on John under Alan’s caravan. Alan was on all fours watching. The good news is that they think they may have fixed the problem.

After sitting around for most of the morning it was decided we would drive to Walkers Rocks, about 5 km northwest of Elliston. Kurgan was excited as we got closer to the ocean and was lucky to have another swim (without any drama this time).20120408_26web

Walkers Rocks are on a point of the bay and there were a lot of people fishing there. Eric saw a couple of fish being landed, while we watched people on quad bikes and 4WD’s drive along the beach. this is where I saw Indie, another Dog In A Car, who was so excited about going onto the beach and playing. She looks like she is smiling at the thought of a swim.

Nothing else to do so we decided to then drive 20kms south east to Locks Well, which is a very popular fishing spot on the coast. The tiny spots that look like ants on the sand are fishermen trying to catch fish.

In 1998 they built steps down the cliff, all 233 of them. Later in 1999 the local council added a viewing platform and toilets. The views from here were spectacular. Here are Carol. Denise, John & Joan enjoying the view.

John & Carol decided to walk down the 233 steps to the beach just so they could say they had done it. We stayed at the top & watched them.

They managed to walk back up without having to be carried and not looking too puffed. The lookout provided a wonderful place to look out over the ocean crash over reefs not far from the shore. We were talking to one lady who had been born on one of the islands we could see 75 years ago. She said she loved the sea and couldn’t bear to be far from it.

On our way back to town we checked out a bush camping site that said it had a swimming pool and good drinking water available. Below is the “swimming pool”. Its an old concrete water tank.

For a day when we were not doing much I still managed to take 135 photos. Wonder what tomorrow will bring.
