Today we were up bright and early as we all were visiting a city for the first time we had left home 27 days ago. Coles, Woolworths, K Mart and Target were all sounding good.
Our first shop was a men’s clothing store to buy Lance (“I never feel the cold”) a jacket to keep him warm. Then on to the Pet Shop to buy Kurgan a coat also. We shopped for food, tent pegs, car UHF radio, and everyone had Chinese for lunch. We came back to camp really tired.
The car UHF radio was purchased at the marina so I checked out the prawn trawlers, the biggest I have seen.
On the foreshore at Port Lincoln, there is a sculpture of a horse called Makybe Diva, Makybe Diva is a British-bred, Australian-trained thoroughbred who became the first racehorse to win the famed Melbourne Cup on three occasions: 2003] 2004] and 2005] . Makybe Diva is the highest stakes-earner in Australasian horse racing history, with winnings of more than $14 million AUD when she retired on 1 November 2005.
Her links to Port Lincoln are through her owner, a South Australian tuna fisherman, Tony Santic from Port Lincoln.
Here are the boys in their coats. We arrived back at camp very tired. shopping is such an exhausting affair.
