13 April 2014:
Morning where we are camping.
This morning I went down to the main street early to take some photos. I have seen sheep feeding amongst the grape vines and this morning I saw kangaroos grazing around the vines. I couldn’t get too close so the photo is not the best.
I went down the street to take photos but I had misjudged the position of the sun. I hope to get back tomorrow and try again.
Our driving around took us to Clare. On the way it was easy to tell we were in wine country. We found this Sculpture installation called “Mob of Sheep” . The sculptor was Ty Manning. I tried to get Kurgan to pose by the sculptured dog but he was all that co-operative.
Back in Balaklava, we went into the Foodland supermarket where I saw cauliflowers on special for $1.69. I didn’t buy one as Lance doesn’t eat cauliflower but mentioned it to Denise who said I should have grabbed it so she could make us cauliflower cheese. They went back the next morning but all the cauli’s had gone. The good news is that Clare has a Foodland Store and the even better news is that John & Denise got the last 2 cauli’s that were on special. Guess what we had for tea - - cauliflower cheese while Lance had chicken sandwiches.
Clare has a lot of historic buildings, one of which is the Clare Hotel, next to the Foodland store.
On the way home we stopped at the Sevenhills Winery which is operated by the Jesuit Priests. Besides the winery there is a Priest’s Retreat and a huge Catholic Church.
Back at our camp site (with the aid of a full moon):
