Last Day In Auburn…………………Day 22

14 March  2014

I opened the door to the caravan today to the sound of leaking water – yep, another hose had a leak. this one was the cold water hose. After much talking, consultation and looking, we decided to go back to Port Wakefield, where we thought we had seen a caravan place.

It was also a misty morning and quite cold before the sun emerged.

Our impression when we passed through Port Wakefield a few days ago was that it was a busy town of some size. We were mistaken - - - there was a part time Pharmacy, three bakeries, two fuel stations, 2 pubs, and the caravan repairs place. Nothing much else, no Grocery or supermarket. We were all surprised. We had a look at the boat ramp where there was almost no water at low tide. Several boats had gone out fishing but would not be able to return until it was high tide.

One of the hotels in Port Wakfield was called “The Rising Sun”, the same as the hotel in Auburn. I don’t know if there is any significance in this but its the first time I have come across two hotels called this name.

We bought some hose and joiners to fix the water hose and drove back to Balaklava for lunch from the bakery, before returning to Auburn.  Tomorrow we are moving up north as with Easter approaching it is difficult to find a place to stay where you know the caravan will be secure as you do day trips.
