Finally we have left Point Turton. It would have been easy to have another week here as the caravan park is right next to the jetty over looking the Spencer Gulf. Here we are ready to leave.
We drove back to Minlaton to buy a few supplies and I went back to the Information centre to buy some more mustard pickles. When I went to pay for them I was introduced to the lady who made them and had just brought in more supplies. From Minlaton we went to Port Vincent on the west coast, a trip of 23 kms. We are getting used to shorter distances between towns which is so different to West Australia..
Next stop was Adrossan for lunch and where we had a fantastic few of the cliffs on the coastline.
We followed the west coast of the YORKE Peninsula for about 50 kms until we rounded the tip of the Gulf of St Vincent and arrived at Port Wakefield. There was a lot of traffic and caravans everywhere so we quickly decided to head inland 25 kms to Balaklava where we are camped at the local sports ground. Tomorrow we are moving further north where we are going to stay for 2 to 3 days while we start exploring the Clare Valley.
I have been collecting photos of hotels “dogs in cars”. Here is the beautiful old building the Royal House Hotel in Ardrossan.
