Another cold morning but as soon as the sun was up it became warm. Its amazing how slow we can go when we are filling in time. We decided to go to the advertised Post Office/Cafe which was offering Coffee & Cookies on the verandah of the Post Office.
A look at the shops, all two of them and a drive around town saw us heading back to our campsite for lunch.
Earlier I had taken advantage of the early morning light to get a couple of photos. There was a tiny hut on display made out of kerosene tins. These were found during the depression years when people had no jobs and no homes. Employment was as high as 32%. Kerosene was used for heating lighting, refrigerators and cooking stoves. Human ingenuity as it is, led people to gather the empty tins and using a sapling frame and flattened 4 gallon kerosene tins which were neatly folded at the edges.
When I was returning to our camp I stopped to take photos of a group of geese that seemed to belong to the town as they hung out at a pool near our camping area.
My plan was to stop the car and get out, but when the geese saw the car stop across the road for them, they all started making a noise and coming towards the car. I stayed safely in the car as I had had encounters of the wrong kind with geese as a child.
They made me feel guilty I had no food for them so I went back to our caravan and got some bread to give them which they certainly enjoyed.
Tomorrow we leave for Charleville – at least that is the plan at the moment.
