Near Townsville……………..Day 133

5th July 2014

Today we finally left Innisfail  and headed south. We had decided the cosmos was discouraging us from heading further north. We got our car back yesterday at 4.30. Kurgan stood outside the caravan and wagged his tail like mad when Lance pulled up in the Hyundai.

We travelled south to a camp site called the Black River Stadium Caravan Park. It is about 20 kms north of Townsville and used to be a rodeo stadium until 3 years ago. It is now a caravan park with large drive through caravan sites.

I found a physiotherapist in Townsville and have an appointment on Thursday. Hope he can help the back.

By the way here is my cassowary photo that I finally got at Etty Beach in Innisfail. It is here with its chick. It stood a good metre and a half tall. Apparently they weigh more than an emu but are shorter than an emu.

They are on the endangered species list and people living in Cassowary country are encouraged to plant vegetation that produces the berries they prefer.
