Rockhampton……………..Day 161

Tuesday 2 September 2014

Finally its Spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Spring time as was shown today when we were watching a crow fly with a stick in its mouth to add to its nest. We have travelled from Sarina and its smell of molasses due to the sugar crush being on, to the smell of smoke and a bush fire some kms south west of us in the Mount Morgan region.
We drove from Sarina to a tiny hamlet on the ocean front called Clairview, where there is free camping available. John tried some fishing with no luck. It was after he was fishing for a while an old local told Denise about a mother crocodile and her three babies which were visiting this part of the beach. This was the view at sunset.

While at Clairview Lance took the ice bucket challenge with Denise exacting revenge for the slow dribble she had received. Lance’s water was dribbled even more slowly over him and was cold.

I got up early to photograph the sunrise at Clairview which came up over the Pacific Ocean. I didn’t venture down past the bush due to the story of the mother crocodile and her babies.

Again we reluctantly left this fantastic view for Rockhampton. If you are over this way check out this little spot of paradise south of Sarina.
We are staying at Gracemere, about 7 kms east of Rockhampton. It is this road that would take us back to Emerald that we visited a few weeks ago. We arrived at lunch time and while setting up met up with another couple who had stayed at Black River Stadium while we were there.
Weather is very warm and t shirts and shorts are our uniform. Both Denise and I have very healthy tans at the moment. Tomorrow we are going to the coast to see Yeppoon.
