31 August 2014.
The last day of winter and we have been in shorts and t-shorts in beautiful sunny days. On Friday 29th we all drove up to Mackay, about 35 kms north of us. We finally got the dirt washed off the car, visited BCF and I visited The Good guys where I bought a back massage machine for Kurgan to give to Lance on Fathers Day.
Had more fish and chips at the marina and headed for home. Saturday saw us have a look around Sarina. We went out to Hay Point,
Hay Point is a small town located approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of the city of Mackay, Queensland, Australia. It is made up of two bulk coal terminals, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, and Hay Point Services Coal Terminal. At the 2006 census, Hay Point and the surrounding area had a population of 1,386.The Dalrymple Terminal stretches 3.5 kms into the ocean while the Hay Point Terminal stretches 1.5 km into the ocean.
In 2003/4, 77 million tonnes of coal was exported through the two terminals. This makes Hay Point one of the largest coal ports in the world.
Today we decided to visit the huge Sarina Markets held at the local showgrounds. Heaps of usual market stuff there but only bought a drink.
Denise and John have been nominated to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for the Motor neurone charity.
Lance poured John’s water over him quickly, but Denise got the water just dribbled out and it took forever.
It is Lance’s turn tomorrow – who knows where we will be tomorrow though.
