"Let's write a poem. Try a haiku, rhyming, or any other style you like"
The prompt today targets my biggest failing (besides the lack of sporting prowess) - I am poetry challenged.
My daughter has found my blog which reminded me today, being ANZAC day, of the times her brother, her and I would bundle into the car at 5am to drive to the State War Memeorial for the Dawn serice. It reminds me of a time when she was participating in the Dawn serice in our suburb and she was in Army Cadets - it was pouring rain. I remember my son also taking part in a dawn service.
The memorial above was only finished last week but is where we live now. The sun rises over the water just as the service was finished. The faint memories of my grandfather return, a man tormented by the hell he saw at Gallipoli and France. "Lest we Forget"

Somehow it always seems to be raining or foggy for the dawn service. Fitting I guess.
