Road Trip – Day 13 (28 March)

I have lost day 12 as some confusion arose over what day it is and what the date is. We haven’t seen much in the way of newspapers. I am now adding dates so as not to confuse myself. The good news is that day light saving ends this coming weekend. No more waking up to darkness.

We woke up to blue skies at Streaky Bay this morning. We are camped in what will be the parking area when this place is developed into a caravan park. Great views of the bay, the only problem being the flies. It would be good to come back here in 5 years and see the changes made.

Again, much discussion is had before any decision is made. Here are Lance, Alan & John. Alan has a net over his head to keep the flies off his face. He looks like something out of a monster movie.

After all that discussion we decided to go into Streaky Bay township & have a look around and see if we could book into Venus Bay for a few days……………..and yes we can get 3 days at Venus Bay Caravan Park. Some of us decided to take the scenic tour around the bays etc. One of the first we came to was Tractor Bay & yes there was an old tractor there.

The tractor experts in our group decided it was an old Fordson Tractor. Some of us went swimming with Kurgan, the dog. Kurgan is loving all the swimming he is managing to get in so far. Most days so far he spent the rest of the day sleeping after he has been swimming. Lucky that we had towels in the cars for these impromptu swims. The water was a little chilly but very welcome after all the dust from travelling on gravel roads.

Viv & Denise & I wandered the shore at Tractor  Bay to look for shells (none) while Eric goes off to see what some people were catching further up the bay. After this bay they all started to look similar.

After getting back to camp about 5pm we settled down for a drink or two and admired the sunset over the bay. It is difficult to keep track of west and east in these bays. Tomorrow we pack up and head for Venus Bay, further south on the Eyre Peninsula.
