Road Trip – Day 14 (29 March)

Happy Birthday Viv, the first birthday on our road trip.

We were a bit slow off the mark leaving Streaky Bay this morning.Lance & I fell foul of modern technology yesterday with my so called Smart Phone. It spat the dummy while we were driving one of the scenic routes in Streaky Bay and went into “Emergency Mode”. The first problem was how to open the phone to take out the battery. This morning we went to Betta Electrical store in Streaky Bay and guess what??????????? My supposed new smart phone that is only 3 months old is NOT Next G compatible!!!!!!

All rural South Australia requires a phone to be “Next G” compatible. We solved the problem by buying a new cheap next G phone.

We finally got our act together and set off from Streaky Bay about 11.00 am, reaching Venus Bay just after lunch. I am writing this looking out over Venus Bay from outside our caravan. Beautiful blue water, slight breeze and happy hour approaching. On the map below Venus Bay is just below the green B100. Venus Bay is a small hamlet of about 30 houses, a general store and a caravan park. There is a jetty where a prawning boat comes into to offload its prawns. We asked but the captain doesn’t sell prawns off the boat.

They ask you to feed the pelicans with the fish offal, not put it in the bin. This makes for some great pelican photos.
