Road Trip – Day 20 (April 4)

BIG DRAMA TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well for us anyway. This afternoon Lance & I went to Anxious Bay so Lance could do a spot of fishing. The bay lived up to its name. Kurgan, our dog was having a great time swimming and running up & down the beach. Lance had settled himself into fishing when Kurgan decided to go out for another swim. He got tangled in a mooring rope and couldn’t move. Lance came running down the beach – yes that was running -  and raced into the water as Kurgan went under. Lance rescued him and a grateful dog came onto the shore and shook himself as if nothing had happened.

Anxious Bay lived up to its name. It was definitely time for Happy Hour.

Early this morning I went into town to take photos. Here is the General Store and the Bakery.

This afternoon we took a drive along the Elliston Tourist Cliff Top Drive where there are still some sculptures remaining from past “Sculptures On the Cliff” exhibitions. There is some humour in seeing a giant pair of thongs (flip flops) standing up against a backdrop of ocean as you come around a corner.

The view from the cliff tops was magnificent. there seemed to be spray coming up over the cliffs to give that misty look. These photos were taken about 4pm and I suppose you could say the sun was in the wrong position, but I like them. I was so pleased to get the surg splashing up over the cliff face.

We came around a corner to Anxious Bay and saw a lone surfer being pulled out to the waves by a jet ski. The waves were breaking a long way from shore. We saw these people right on the cliff edge watching the surfer.

If anyone makes it to Elliston, make sure you take the dirt road on the Tourist Scenic Cliff Drive. It is worth the dust on your car.

Kurgan is stretched out sound asleep from all his swimming and Lance is on his bed resting from his heroic efforts of this afternoon. Lets hope for a quiet day tomorrow.
