A drive around Lake Argyle shows just a tiny part of the lake that was created by the damming of the Ord River in 1972. I hope to see how big it really is when I do a flight over the Bungles Bungles ( another thing on my bucket list).
We visited the Argyle Downs Homestead to have a look around. When the Ord River was dammed, the resultant lake flooded the Argyle Downs Station. The homestead was knocked down and reconstructed near the caravan park..It is a beautiful stone building.

The level of conversation varies each time we all get together. I was trying to explain how a macro lens works and the only thing I could find in a hurry to take a photo of was the wart on John’s foot.Getting desperate some would say.LOL. Another time we spent almost an hour on discussing what type of bird was hopping around the caravan site. Three bird reference books came out and finally after I had uploaded the photo and showed it on the computer we all agreed it was a Great Bower Bird.
Lance & I took a drive around the areas open to the public around the Ord River Dam. To get an idea of the size of this dam have a look at the car on the road crossing the dam.
The scenery around here was breath taking.
The photo above is the Ord River below the dam. To the right of the river is the hydro electric power station. I couldn’t help myself. I took heaps of photos.
………………and here is another photo. I know it has power lines, but these ones are from the hydro Electric Station..
These little fellas were at the Argyle Downs Homestead. They are Double Barred Finches.
