We woke up early to the whole camp area at Nanutarra shrouded in fog. Water was still lying on the ground in pools of red mud. We had put newspaper down on the floor of the caravan and by the time we were leaving, the newspaper was red from the mud.
We were on the road early as the power in the camping area again went off again. No toast for breakfast this morning.
We soon had the over sized vehicles passing us again. This load was particularly wide and it was lucky we were on a part of the road that has a passing lane. There was no way we could have moved off the bitumen as the earth on each side of the road was soft from the large amount of rain we had received.
A while back I talked about always having the camera on and ready to use by my side. Here is another reason why I do this. There was little time to compose a shot through the front windscreen as these guys were soon on the run. We have now had camels, brumbies, kangaroos, cows, emus and dingoes look at us from the road.
We pulled briefly into Manilya roadhouse before continuing south, watching the clouds gather.
Luckily for us the rain stopped before we arrived at Carnarvon. It will be nice to have a grassed area to camp on for a few days.
