Townsville…………………Day 119

22 July 2010

Yesterday we all arrived in Townsville. Ocean at last.

John and Denise went straight to the caravan park as they needed to go into the CBD to buy supplies for their trip up to the tip of Cape York. They left us this morning for a couple of weeks driving to the tip of Cape York with Denise’s sister and brother in law, Leanne and Bill.

We drove straight to the caravan repairman to get our window fixed. One of the caravan windows broke and what we thought was perplex was actually glass.

Today we went into Townsville so Lance could go to his bank and we drove up Castle Hill Lookout. Wow – what a spectacular view.

“Castle Hill is both  heritage listed and an isolated pink granite monolith standing in the heart of the north Queensland city of Townsville. It rises to a height of some 286 metres (938 ft) above sea level and dominates the city skyline.[3] It is one of the most distinctive natural features on the Queensland coast. There are a number of vantage points from which to view the city below and also across Cleveland Bay to nearby Magnetic Island.”

This is the view east out over the ocean._MG_0174web

…………….and the view inland………….

We also saw those wonderful trees, the Banyan tree.

It was nice to smell the ocean once again. Tomorrow we get the car tires checked and will look a bit more around Townsville.
