Tamworth…………………..Day 179

19 September 2014

51 days to go and sort of counting.

After a overnight stop at the Glenn Innes Showgrounds we packed up and pointed the cars in the direction of Tamworth. After Glen Innes we passed through Glencoe, a reminder of our trip to Scotland when we stayed in Glencoe while in Scotland. Some of the scenery in this area reminded us of New Zealand with the rolling green hills and the trees without their leaves.

We stopped for morning tea in Armidale, a city in the Northern Tablelands of NSW with a population of over 23,000 people. It was settled in the 1830’s.

As we continued onwards to Tamworth Lance could only state ”not more bloody hills”. Take a look at this view as we went down the Moonbi Ranges towards Tamworth.

We are staying at the City Lights Caravan Park and we do get a beautiful view of the city lights at night from our caravans. There are only a couple of other caravans here passing through so the local wildlife were not afraid to wander around the park. We saw Eastern Rosella’s and Common Miners.

Unfortunately I only got a couple of bad photos of these birds but at least the ducks and their babies were a little easier to photograph.

Today, Friday, John and Denise went out to explore while Lance took our car to the Tamworth Car Doctors to get the car serviced. This meant we were carless until about 2pm where there was a rush out to the supermarket and the chemist.

Tonight we again had one of our now famous roast dinners with Denise cooking her award winning pork and I went for chicken. Sticky Date pudding finished off the menu.

While we were sitting outside having happy hour we were visited by the local kookaburra. He spent quite a bit of time around our caravans and ended up on John’s annexe.
